Globalization 101

Globalization101.org (G101) is an online resource supported by The Levin Institute to further the education of college students about policy aspects of globalization related to civics, economics, geography, and history. Globalization101 highlights the many trade-offs and dilemmas, associated with globalization.  Using an issue-oriented approach to the subject of globalization, students are challenged to grapple with the benefits and costs of trade liberalization, the proper balance between environmental protection and economic development, and whether to preserve or integrate cultures. Students are exposed to the forces propelling the world toward globalization, the major issues and the cross-linkages among them, and the choices facing policy-making entities (nation-states; ngos and corporations) as they try to encourage growth and development.

Globalization101.org provides information and related curricular units to teach about cross-disciplinary subjects such as international law and economic development. The site includes 12 Issue Briefs, more than 70 News Analyses, a For Teachers section (with syllabi, curricular units, and assessment pieces), an Ask the Experts section with interactive, video interviews with experts in the field; a monthly e-newsletter and a Useful Links section. Many of Globalization101.org’s Issue Briefs have been being translated into Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic. (see www.globalization101.org)
