JumpStartNYC consists of:

  • A 5 day intensive boot camp (April 12-16, 2009) at Levin to re-orient talent from financial companies to succeed in small company environments. Participants will learn through presentations, simulations, and dialog about the entrepreneurial economy in New York and the expectations of venture-financed firms. Students will assess personal working style, strengths, and weaknesses, aiming to deliver value in a new context.
  • 10 week action-learning project in a firm, including digital media, financial and other services, IT, and new sectors like green finance. Our hope is that these projects could turn into continuing assignments - full or part time. Spring 2009 firms included: HBO, The Ladders, Peek Communications, Project 2050, Babble Media, Pasta Resources, People Capital, Solaire Generation, MediaMerx, Media Morph, Speaklike Translation, Cluster Seven, and many others.
  • Bi-weekly updates and networking events with peers and NY business people.  Levin will hold regular meetings, and involve the participants in Levin networking opportunities. All Levin educational programs involve guided networking as a crucial element, and our graduates testify that this is a prime advantage of their Levin experience.  Levin students are taught how to effectively network in New York, and to use this to advance their careers.  Levin’s strategy involves ambitious institutional partnerships that will be used to broaden participants’ networks. One month before the program’s conclusion, a day-and-a-half session will target “How I deliver value”, to maximize their chance of success of landing a position.
  • 2-day wrap-up session on completing a successful transition.

Interested? Sign up for our informational session on March 11th from 6-8pm, which will take place at the Levin Institute. Click here to RSVP, please enter event ID: 2520.

Here's what Spring 2009 participants said about the Program:

The wealth of knowledge and insight brought to bear by these lectures were phenomenal

For me, it was the concrete and technical things we learned(case study and simulation) that felt most readily applicable.  The contacts were excellent.

Thanks for all your hard work.  This was fun and I feel that my mindset has been transformed.

This forces us to use all of our business skills, financial skills and marketing skills to really dig deep to discover what other opportunities we can help create.

The bootcamp has been very good.  I have learned a lot this week and feel very excited about this opportunity and potential to land a full-time job.  It's good to have the support resources as well
