JumpStart NYC is a proven, three-month educational program to help individuals leaving jobs in the financial services sector to apply their knowledge, skills, and abilities in opportunities beyond financial services.
One of Mayor Bloomberg’s initiatives to boost the New York City economy, JumpStart has successfully delivered three programs that help participants develop new skills, explore project opportunities in New York’s entrepreneurial firms and arts organizations -- in many cases creating new career paths and opportunities.
JumpStart NYC was initiated by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). Its courses, events and seminars were developed by The Levin Institute (SUNY), and there's no cost to you.
JumpStart NYC includes:
- 5-day boot camp (October 18-22) at Levin to re-orient talent from financial companies to succeed in small companies.
- An optional second week of bootcamp (October 25-29) on Green Finance.
- 10-week action-learning project in a firm (arts, green tech, digital media, financial and other services).
- Regular mentoring, coaching, and networking sessions
- 1-day "capstone" wrap-up session upon completing a successful transition.
