The Levin Institute is working with Chinese municipal governments to train management teams from their Science and Technology Bureaus, High Tech Industry Parks, Software Parks and University Technology Transfer offices. The goal is to help each city develop unique, sustainable competitive advantage.
China Software Industry Executive Program
The Levin Institute completed its 4th China Software Industry Executive Program in January 2006 which brought managers from Chinese software companies to New York for a 16-week program.
The program is sponsored by the China International Talent Exchange Foundation (CITEF) as a means of training managers in China’s fledgling software industry and was originally launched in 2000.
This latest program brought managers from 16 cities, 9 provinces and 26 companies to study at The Levin Institute. Their curriculum was made up of three segments. These included 12 modules of classroom study including the Dynamics of the Global Software Industry, High-tech Marketing and Emerging Technology Evaluation . There are also active case studies, workshops, and various field trips including the Whiteface Mountain New Cadets Camp.
The purpose of the program is to prepare students to have the skills needed to lead and manage personnel in the worldwide high tech industry. Included in those skills are: communication, knowledge of the global software market, emerging technology evaluation, software project management, and corporate valuation. The experience of networking with American software companies in the diversified culture of New York City has also proven to be of great value to the managers.
Many of the manager/students said the Levin experience was transformative both on a professional and personal level.
