A Corporate Academic Partnership The Levin China Innovation Network can serve as an efficient knowledge source about China for your company, providing a lens to the opaque view that companies have into China, and shedding light on the dynamics of the Chinese innovation system. Each year, the Network will sponsor one major conference and several smaller workshops to introduce you to Levin’s international cohort of China business and technology experts. A major conference in 2006 on Industrial Innovation in China featured a delegation of 30 Chinese policy and industry leaders, headed by Vice Minister Shang Yong, the acknowledged architect of China’s long-term innovation plan, as well as 24 recognized international experts on Chinese S&T. Members of the Levin China Innovation Network have the opportunity for a custom program facilitated by the Levin Institute. Strategies for Success in China is aimed at helping companies just entering the Chinese market. Mastering the Chinese Business Environment is for firms who have been involved in China for some time who seek to scale up and capitalize on prior investments. It is designed to enable executives to rethink and revitalize business operations and organization in China, to ensure a more coherent link between strategic intention and business outcomes. It is a great opportunity to test and question existing assumptions about China. These customized programs can be fine tuned with the experience level of your firm, and offer a chance to raise specific questions and issues regarding your company’s strategy and implementation. The workshop may open up further educational and development activities which can be custom designed to meet your company’s particular needs and circumstances. Through extensive working relationships with China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and related ministries and organizations, Levin will make accessible critical statistical materials and research reports from China and elsewhere. These materials are essential for assessing China’s strategic national TESTING research programs, current and future R&D capacity, and the quantity and caliber of the science and engineering talent pool. Areas of specific study include university-industry cooperation, regional S&T developments, national innovation strategy, the evolving role of high-tech zones and clusters, and comparative S&T developments in China, India and the other Pacific Rim economies. Recent Levin research has focused on the Chinese Talent Pool of scientists and technologists. Membership in the Levin China Innovation Network provides privileged access to all of the Levin Institute's research, conferences, workshops, and benefits described herein, including the opportunity for an exclusive workshop for your company. In addition, Levin will publish a quarterly newsletter on Chinese innovation issues, and make regular research monographs available through its web-site. Through these conferences, workshops, training seminars, and electronic materials, our intent is to put your company “in the know” on China. Dr. Denis Fred Simon, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at the Levin Institute, directs the China Innovation Network. |
