FastTrac
Operated by New York City’s Small Business Services, FastTrac is a proven program of the Kauffman Foundation to help individuals formulate business plans, and advance through the steps to set up their own start-up ventures.
Course Description: FastTrac NewVenture is designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs determine the viability of their business concepts and develop start-up strategies for their businesses.
Course Module: Six session classroom-based “crash course” held twice a week over a three week period. Course module includes:
- Session 1: Entrepreneurial Profile, Personal Vision and Business Concept
- Session 2: Market Research & Setting Financial Goals
- Session 3: Cost Research & Pricing
- Session 4: Funding Options & Writing a Business Plan
- Session 5: Branding & Marketing
- Session 6: Business Plan Presentations & Graduation
Course Structure: Each class is staffed by entrepreneurs serving as program facilitators, business coaches, and guest speakers.
Outcomes: By the end of the course, students will have vetted their business idea with experienced coaches and successful entrepreneurs, developed a strong business plan, and connected to services that will help them start their business, including NYC Business Solutions and NYC Business Express.

- Class size: 20-30 participants per class
- Eligibility criteria for applicants:
- Well thought out idea for new business
- New York City resident
- Two years of work experience
- Access to computer to complete assignments
- Commitment to attend all session and complete prep work
